Discover the Orb!

Fresh, clean laundry makes me happy.  Gathering it from the line outside, or pulling it from the dryer feels great.  I’ll happily outsource most household chores given half the chance, but the laundry I keep for myself.

Wash Day Blues?

So given this love affair with clean laundry, I was pretty horrified to realize that so many of the products we use to make our clothes and bedding feel wonderful are actually really, really bad for us.

This report shines an unflinching light on the less appealing side of all of those laundry ads. Formaldehyde, methanol and sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate are common ingredients, and chemicals that we should be trying to avoid at all costs, never mind …

Posted by: On December 6, 2016 7:00 am

We hope you’re loving our 10-part series on how a water ionizer compares to other means of getting your drinking water.  So far, we’ve looked at a few types of machine and equipment, and today we’re examining how water ionizers stack up against the ubiquitous bottled water.

Have You Got the Bottle?

Bottled water is undeniably convenient.  Widely available to the point of saturation, to use a suitably watery metaphor; most of us are probably only a few feet away from a bottle of water at any time.

Handily, bottled water comes in lots of different guises to suit your pocket and tastes.  Mineral water, spring water…even alkaline water is available in a bottle.  Importantly, it’s also relatively …

Sorry Soda.  It’s Not You.  It’s Us.

Posted by: On September 1, 2016 12:00 pm

On the 2nd August, Bloomberg.com published a report stating that bottled water is poised to outstrip soda sales, a new phenomenon which industry experts believe owes as much to the highly publicized water crisis which began (publicly at any rate) in Flint, MI., as it does to any real sea change in our health habits.

Sorry soda.  It’s all over between us.
Sorry soda.  It’s all over between us.

Just How Bad is Soda?

Even fans of soda know that there’s little to recommend it, in terms of what it contains; and in fact there’s mounting evidence that soda is actively harmful to our health.

Soft drink consumers are being exposed to an avoidable and unnecessary cancer risk from an ingredient that is

Fragile seedlings need a delicate touch and gentle watering.

The Nursery Stage

When plants are tiny, it’s sometimes hard to work out their water needs.  Unfortunately, once a vulnerable new plant is well and truly dehydrated, with drooping leaves and a bent stem, …

Who doesn’t love the spring?  It’s hard not to get all clichéd about it, but the buds on the trees, the little green shoots pushing through winter-hardened soil and lambs (aw!  Lambs!) tottering around next to their mothers; it’s all pretty wonderful.  New life, fresh starts and all that.

I Use Alkaline Water When I’m Too Cheap to Buy Organic

Posted by: On March 3, 2016 9:00 am

It sometimes seems a bit of anomaly, that we’re frequently charged more for fruit and vegetables that have lots of things left out. The herbicides and pesticides that are left out of organic produce, are the very things that make it cheaper and easier to achieve large crops.

The budget doesn’t always stretch to buying organic.
The budget doesn’t always stretch to buying organic.

People sometimes say “but organic doesn’t taste any better.” It’s great if it does, but really, that’s not the point. Eating organically means hopefully reducing your toxic load and therefore maybe improving your overall health.

But yes, it costs extra. People are, by necessity, tightening their belts more and more, and it becomes harder to justify the additional cost of eating organically. So …

How to Save Money on Organic Produce with Alkaline Water

Posted by: On December 23, 2015 9:00 am

Organic is big business these days. We’re all digging deep to pay more for food that doesn’t come with a side order of chemicals. If you want your food without potential extras of pesticides, herbicides, growth inhibitors, growth stimulators and more, then you have to grow your own or buy organic, right?

“It looks clean, but appearances aren’t everything.”

“Gonna Wash That Stuff Right Off All My Veg…”

Well you know, there is another way. As far as vegetables and fruit are concerned, with your Tyent Ionizer Turbo water, you can eat clean without going organic. Here’s how: produce is generally coated with oil-based pesticides and herbicides that won’t wash off with water alone. That figures, right? What would …

The Twelve Days Of An Alkaline Water Christmas!

Posted by: On December 17, 2015 9:00 am

I’ll be honest, I was trying to shoehorn this article into a musical pastiche of ‘On The First Day Of Christmas, My True Love Gave To Me…’ but could I get anything to rhyme with ‘Ionizer’?

And so, for your festive delectation, here is the non-musical, non-rhyming version, in no particular order.

Never again would Sarah need to endure a frizzy-haired Christmas.

Does Being A Vegetarian Help You Lose Weight?
We all know that vegetables are good for you. So being a vegetarian should mean that your diet is healthy, and therefore, you should be able to shed the pounds, right? Well, possibly, but within vegetarianism, there’s many choices you can make in terms of ensuring your diet is healthy, or not.

Does Being A Vegetarian Help You Lose Weight?
So…this lot cancels out doughnuts, right?

Diet Dilemmas
The plain fact is that some vegetarians have a fat-laden, processed food-heavy, high sugar diet. They just don’t eat meat or fish. I have a veggie friend who was baffled by her inability to lose weight since ditching meat. She told me all about it over a silky, buttery mac …
